Certificate in Child Psychology and Counselling

This 6-month comprehensive Certificate in Child Psychology and Counselling (CPCS) part-time course introduces students to the fundamentals of a child’s psychological development. In addition, relevant counselling skills and theories, as well as various intervention strategies will be communicated to students by practitioners.

To understand children's developmental milestones and to learn relevant counselling skills to help and care for the well-being of children and adults.

Candidates should be 21 years of age & have completed SPM.

Developmental Stages and Processes

This module covers the developmental stages of a child from age 0-12. It focuses on the major milestones of developments in areas of cognitive development, language and literacy development, physical development, social and emotional development.

Counselling Theories

This module covers the basics skills and ethics in counselling. It includes the key attributes of a counsellor and trains the students to have skills in active listening, attending and problems solving in relation to counselling. Students will also be practicing techniques from the Egan’s model and applications of psychotherapy for children.
